When I was twelve, I got turned loose on the internet for the first time. I didn't know that trans people existed at that point, but that didn't stop me from eventually stumbling onto genderbend and tg/tf stuff, which awoke some pretty fierce longing in me. After seeing that there existed "medicine that could turn you into a girl," I ended up finding a place to buy estrogen patches online. I only didn't go through with it because a) I was a middle schooler and didn't have any money and b) there would be no way to do it without my parents finding out.

It would be seven years until I actually put words to all of it and realized that I was trans. I think back to that version of myself frequently. The person at the start of years of numb disconnect from positive emotion. The person getting angrier and angrier at the world because something ineffable was wrong with it. The person who, even if she didn't have those words, wanted desperately to be a girl.

I wonder if she'd be proud of me.

the hardest lesson i've learned ever since i started going to university for design is that no one gaf about effort..... you can put 50+ hours and your whole heartussy into a project and you'll get the best possible score, but some guy who wiped his ass with a sheet of A4 printer paper 5 minutes before the deadline & asked chatGPT to give it a title will get the exact same score as you, so suddenly you realize you wasted wayyy too much of your time and passion and sanity for a project that didn't really matter in the end
